Poor old Chinaman! A market gardener named Wong
was before the Court yesterday on a charge of necessarily wasting
water from the municipal supply. Mr. A. H. Johns!one. who appear",l for
the defendant, undertook that no further waste would be allowed. and a necessary connection with a stopcock would be made. The Chinaman
was fined 2s id and ordered to pay 7s costs. If the borough
inspector looking for gardeners who waste the municipal water supply he
needn't confine his attention to the ahnond-eyed gentlemen who "glow
