CORRESPONDENCE- The Chinese Question. TO THE EDITOR, Sir Will you kindly allow me space for a few remarks regarding the Chinese in Wanganui I notice the Chinamen are cultivating a five-acre borough lease, the original European lessee having sold their !ease to them should not think our City Fathers eould grant a transfer, as this is the first time that the Chinese are working on a borough lease, and would be an opportune time to object to the transfer Some time ago I asked one of tho borough leaseholders to rent me an acre out of his land, which however he thought the Council would not grant. The Chinese I have no doubt are able to pay rent, as Ihey have no family to support, and aa soon as they have a nice lot of money thay are off like the shot of a gun to their home in China. -I am, ete A EURPOEAN GARDENER Wanganui Herald, Volume XXIX, Issue 8651, 16 September 1895, Page 2
